Job Description

Clinical Research CoordinatorThe Department of Radiation Oncology at Penn State College of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) to support a diverse portfolio of oncology research studies, including basic science, therapeutic, observational, and translational research. This position plays a critical role in advancing patient care and scientific discovery through the effective coordination and oversight of clinical research activities.The CRC will independently manage operational, regulatory, administrative, and data-related aspects of research projects, ensuring that all studies are conducted in compliance with institutional policies, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and applicable federal and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and collaborative, with the ability to work effectively with investigators, sponsors, clinical teams, and institutional partners.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain research databases; support data collection, management plans, and quality assurance activitiesPrepare, review, submit, and maintain regulatory and compliance documentation (e.g., IRB, Clinical Trials Office)Assist with grant and proposal preparation, award administration, and research submissionsProvide operational oversight for clinical research projects, including management of study timelines, deliverables, and workflowsCoordinate research activities across multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders, including sponsors and collaborating institutionsDevelop study-specific operating procedures, workflow processes, manuals, and documentationOrganize and coordinate meetings, trainings, and presentations; prepare agendas and facilitate training sessionsMonitor study progress, identify and resolve project issues, and generate reports or presentations for investigators and stakeholdersManage study budgets and resources; track expenses and process financial transactions in alignment with study guidelinesMaintain accurate records for personnel certifications, training completion, and compliance documentationPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in a related fieldPrior experience in clinical research coordination within an academic or healthcare setting preferredFamiliarity with mobile and internet technology, remote data capture (i.e. REDCap) and basic data analysisMinimum Education, Work Experience & Required CertificationsBachelor's Degree; 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted; Required Certifications: NoneBackground Checks/ClearancesThis position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.Salary & BenefitsThe salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $59,580.00 - $86,400.00.Penn State provides a competitive benefits package for full-time employees designed to support both personal and professional well-being.
